First CDE Programme
The 1st CDE programme on basic life support system
was held on 25th Jan 2009 at Dhavantri Hall , Sri Ramachandra Medical
College and hospital, Porur, Chennai. The course was conducted by Dr.
T.V. Ramakrishnan, Head , Dept. of Accident & Emergency Medicine, Sri
Ramachandra Medical College, Chennai – Certified Provider & Instructor
for BLS and ACLS (Advance Cardiac Life Support)and his team of doctors
Dr. M. Veerabahu, MDS, Dr. S. Ramakumar MDS DNB, Dr. N. Nanda kumar MDS,
Dr. V. Anand kumar (CDE Convener).More than 100 participants attended
the lecture and 30 of them underwent hands-on training
Second CDE programme
The 2nd CDE programme was held on 22nd Feb 2009 at
Liberty Park Hotel. Lectures were given by Dr. Mahesh Kumar on Mind that
space, Dr. Chockalingam on Interceptor, Dr. Eapen Thomas on Seal them
–yes we can, Dr. Jayanthi on the black box, Dr. Nilaya Reddy on Humpty
Dumpty had a great fall, Dr. Ponnudurai Arangannal on Growning Glory –
SS Crowns .The hands on course was conducted by Stainless steel crowns
by Dr. Ponnudurai Arangannal and his team Dr. Rekha, Dr. Eapen Thomas,
Dr. Mahesh Kumar and Dr. Nilaya Reddy.
Third CDE Programme
The 3rd CDE programme was organized by IDA, Madras
Branch & Nobel Biocare India on April 15th,2009 at Hotel Rain Tree,
Chennai. This Special Lecture was by Dr. Egon Euwe from the Department
of Periodontia from University of Milan, Europe and Faulty Member of the
Global Institute of Dental Education (GIDE). The lecture subject was on
Innovative Esthetics Solutions in implantology which covered the latest
concepts in implantology using CAD CAM Technology and soft tissue
esthetics in implantology treatment. The Lecture focused on Special
attention to function and hygienic maintenance of implant supported
prosthesis Focusing on long term function, esthetics and health. Totally
78 Dental Practitioners from Chennai attended the lecture
4th CDE Program- Oral Pathology-5th July
The 4th CDE Programme Oral Pathology was held on
5thjuly-2009 at hotel Vijay park, Arumbakkam, Chennai. Lectures were
given by Dr.T.Chandrasekar on Role of oral Pathology in general
practice, an introduction oral mucosa and colored oral lesions by Dr.
Rajkumar, Dr. Ranganathan on precancerous and cancerous lesion, Dr.
Sivapathasundaram on Clinico –patholagical correlation and. Dr. H.
Thamizh chelvan on oral ulcers.
5th CDE Program- Porcelain Laminate Veneers-9th
August
The 5th CDE Programme was held on 9th Aug 2009at
hotel Vijay Park, Arumbakkam Chennai. Lectures were given by Dr.
Sivagami on Introduction to Porcelain laminate veneers, Dr. K.Madhusudan
on biomechanics of tooth Preparation for PLV’s, Dr. Vijay Vaikunth on
technical consideration in impression making, Dr. Ponsekar Abraham on
Techniques involed in provisional, Dr. Bhuminathan on Try in and
cementaion and Dr. V. Harishnath on trouble shooting in OLV.
6th CDE Program- Problem Solving in Endodontics
-20th Sep 2009
The 6th CDE Programme was held on 20th Sep2009 at
hotel vijay park, kodambakkam, Chennai Lectures were given by, Dr. A.R.
Pradeep kumar on In access cavity preparation, Dr. A. Subbiya on
cleaning and shaping, Dr.R. Mathan Rajan on Obturation, Dr. N.
Velmurugan on Retreatment Enodotics.
8thCDE programme-Periodontics for the general dental
practitioners-29th Nov 2009
The 8th CDE programme was held on 29th Nov at Hotel Sabari inn, Chennai.
Lectures were given by Dr.J.Selvakumar on Diagnosis of periodontal
Diseases, Assoc.professor, sri venkateswara dental college, Treatment
planning in periodontics by Dr.Sankari, Assoc.professor, saveetha dental
college, Periodontal soft tissue surgical techniques by
Dr.R.Saravanakumar, Professor, Meenakshi ammal dental college,
Periodontal plastic surgical procedures by Dr.Harinath, Assoc.professor,
S.R.M. dental college, Periodontal Hard tissue surgical techniques by Dr
B.Shivakumar, Assoc.professor, Ragas dental college, Maitanence, Review
and recall-supportive periodontal therapy by Dr.Anitha, Sree Balaji

CDH programme
IDA (Madras Branch) at No-Tobacco Campaign
World No Tobacco Day is being observed every year on
May 31st. In order to control the tobacco menace effectively the tobacco
control legislation in India are in force from 2003. To create awareness
among the traders regarding the legislation and to increase the
compliance The Tamilnadu Traders Association was observing the day as
'No Tobacco Sale Day' and it was declared by Thiru. T. Vellayan on
29.05.09 at the function organized by Indian Dental Association (Madras
Branch),Tobacco Control Task Force, Tobacco Cessation Center & Cancer
Institute (WIA) was held at the Cancer Institute (WIA).
The programme was inaugurated with Invocation of
Cancer Institute Signature Song. Welcome address was given by Mr. K.
Ranjith Kumar, Tobacco Control Task Force, Madras Christian College,
special address was given by Dr. V. Shanta, Chairman, Cancer Institute (WIA)
and Dr.V.Rangarajan,
Hon Secretary, IDA Madras Branch, Thiru. Tha.Vellayan, President, Tamil
Nadu Traders Association, declared May 31st as “No Tobacco Sale Day”.
Vote of Thanks was given by Mr. S. Jamal Yusuf, Tobacco Control Task
Force, New College. IDA EC Members also participated in this programme.
The media persons did a wide coverage and supported us for this worthy
cause and covered this event to disseminate the message to the larger
public. This timely intervention will unquestionably save millions of
lives which will otherwise be succumbed to tobacco terrorism.
